Bye Melanco album
$13.79 It's perhaps ironic that you don't need to be able to understand the words to appreciate this celebration of the 700th anniversary of the birth of the great Iranian poet Rumi. But these performances by father and son, along with the other four members of the ensemble, transcend language to reach pure emotion. It can be as affecting as singer Shahram Nazeri's vocals on "Fanayam Man 1," where a spare backing merely emphasizes the voice, or the remarkable instrumental "Journey to Eternity" featuring Hafez Nazeri's work on the stringed setar (Persian lute), a virtuoso piece of playing. He deserves ...

$12.99 When was the last time that you were absolutely thrilled by a jazz concert? There are many good concerts, but a concerts that „really blows you away'...Exactly this happened to me and my label partner Thomas Siffling when we attended the concert of Kristjan Randalu who was rewarded the „Jazz award of Baden-Württemberg 2007', the highest endowed jazz price in Germany. On the stage only a piano and percussion - but what followed was such a perfect blend of creativity, intensity, beauty, musicality, energy, excellence, wonderful arrangements and an almost unbelievable interaction which to us seems really world class - and we are not the only fans of Randalu: Peter Erskine, Herbie Hancock and Till Brönner are fans as well!Randalu already performed on a Grammy nominated CD (feat. Tony Scott and Eddie Daniels) and we are very proud to present this new concert to you on JAZZ'n'ARTS, a concert which is at the same time awesome, entertaining and very profound. A repertoire ranging from Estonian folk songs, classical music (Dvorak), original compositions to phenomenal new interpretations of jazz standards. We are curious to hear how you will like the album and would be happy to hear your comments!more about the bandKristjan Randalu and Bodek Janke are currently both living and working in New York - but they have known each other from childhood, both growing up in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Estonian pianist and composer Kristjan Randalu started his music education at the age of 6 in Tallinn - both his parents being classical pianists. After the move to Germany Kristjan studied classical piano with Sontraud Speidel and Patrick O´Byrne in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart and jazz piano with Paul Schwarz in Stuttgart, additionally having lessons with John Taylor in Cologne. In 2001 he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Geoff Keezer (piano), Iain Ballamy, and Django Bates (composition). In 2003 Kristjan Randalu studied at the City College of New York with Edward Simon and John Patitucci. Additionally he studied composition with Daniel Schnyder. In 2006 Kristjan received his Master´s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Kenny Barron, Garry Dial, Phil Markowitz, and Ted Rosenthal. He is an alumnus of the Henry Mancini Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles (2005 and 2006), where he recorded on the album "Elevation" (Concord) featuring Eddie Daniels and Tom Scott which received two Grammy award nominations.
