Stooges Heavy Liquid (2005)
For the Completist...Absolutely stunning packaging. Never seen better use of the Mick Rock collection until I opened this box set. Most of the material has been available before, but it's nice to hear it cleaned up and presented in such professional form. Iggy rules supreme over all. Pat Travers Putting It Straight (1977) Top Seller
Remastered
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Best Of His CareerAn awesome boogie-rock albyum from the '70s. Probably his best, too. A shame that the remastered version from Majestic Rock is shoddy with serious static throughout. Incorrect tracklisting order from actual CD, as well. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON, Canada) 11/25/2004

Eric Clapton 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974)
Hybrid; SACD Hybrid
Ultimate VersionYes, this is the ultimate version in my humble opinion. Better than the DTS version and far superior to any CD version. The surround mix sounds fantastic and really shines on the non-hit tracks like "Mainline Florida", "Motherless Child", "Willie & The Hand Jive" and "I Can't Hold On". There was a reason this album was so successful and it wasn't just because of a cover version of a Bob Marley song. This is the best Clapton album of his career and the SACD Surround version does more than justice to it! Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON, Canada) 11/24/2004

Kinks Misfits (1978)
SACD Hybrid
Not SACD Surround!!Great album! One of the Kinks very best! The SACD Stereo mix prsents this album at its' most pristeen and the audio clarity is astonishing. Too bad the packaging indicates the disc is SACD Surround. I was excited when I saw that. Not much else to expect from Velvel/Koch. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON - Canada) 9/17/2004

James Taylor JT (1977)
Super Audio CD
70's Songwriter at his peakJT was a highlight album in James Taylor's career. The songs were well written, the arrangments simple but powerful and the styles ranged from blues to pop to folk. The SACD Surround mix is really well done and helps bring out those simplicities. The back up vocals from the likes of Linda Rondstat and JD Souther are almost angelic. I hadn't heard this album in its entirety in almost 30 years and the SACD version was well worth the wait to hear it again. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON - Canada) 9/12/2004

Bad Company Burnin' Sky (1977)
The Best from Bad CompanyNot a big fan of most of their albums, but an familiar with them all. "Burning Sky" was, in my opinion the most underated Bad Co. album of them all and possibly their best. Paul Rodgers delivers some of his best song writing and vocals over a rnage of serious, hard rocking tunes such as the title track to the more gentler tracks like "Like Water". Most hard core Bad Co. fans would likely agree that this album deserves more props than it has gotten over the past 2.5 decades since it was released. David Byrne / Talking Heads Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense (1984) Top Seller
Widescreen
Talking Heads At Their Best LiveJust watched it for the 1st time in 5.1 surround. Woah!! Makes me salivate for the day the TH catalogue is done in Surround. The band deserves it. Their music was always at the leading edge of innovativeness, but this live performance/film, sculpted and designed by the multi-dimensional and talented David Byrne leaves you transfixed. What a great band they were live and this is the finest documentation of Talking Heads at their best. The 5.1 mixes is a perfect compliment and worth price alone. David Bowie Ziggy Stardust (1972)
Ziggy Everywhere!Oh, yes..."The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars" - the quintessential '70s album and the flagship album of the glam period. The 5.1 Surround mix is astonishing. The layered background vocals by Bowie & Mick Ronson jump out and the subtleties of Ronson's arrangements are quite ear catching. Too bad "Scary Monsters" and "Let's Dance" didn't get the surround treatment as well. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON - Canada) 9/3/2004

Kinks Misfits (1978)
SACD Hybrid
5 Stars for the music...5 Stars for the music. 2 for packaging. Nice to have this re-master in Digipack version (always better than jewelcase), but the fact that the back tray indicates SACD Surround and it is actually just SACD stereo. Too bad. Gotta admit, I was excited when I saw the "Surround" logo on the back. Major let down when I played it. Then again it is Velvel/Koch.The SACD stereo remaster is somewhat better than the '98 Velvel re-issues. Great album though. One of The Kinks best. Es Raw Power (1973)
Remastered
In The BeginningSome may say that the anger in Rock began in Detroit and if so, the Stooges were certainly at the front line. After being let go by Elektra, they reassembled in London and barely recorded for Columbia, what would become a legendary album and historical blueprint for the punk explosion to erupt just 3 years later. RAW POWER just oozes with that original indie-garage blistering rock experience. From the title track to "Search & Destroy" to "Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell" to the closing "Death Trip", the album can leave you breathless. The "remastered" Iggy mix delivers the extra punch that the original Bowie-mix didn't have. Anyone who claims to like "punk" music and not familiar with RAW POWER, should do themselves a favor and educate themselves. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON, Canada) 9/2/2004

Brian Eno Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) (1974) Top Seller
Remastered
Too Good To Be True...Yes it is....Too good to be true. "Taking Tiger Mountain" is quite simply the best of the vocal albums (in my humble opinion) recorded by Brian Eno and without question, one of the most under-rated influential albums from the '70s. This album is so good, that even after hundreds of listens over the past 30 years, it just gets better and better. From the exotic lyrics to its' even more exotic arrangements by some of the best rock musicians from England at the time, it created a indelible blueprint of originality and experimentation that countless bands from Bauhaus to Talking Heads spun from. The Simon Heyworth "remasters" have given these Eno re-issues the added (& justifiable) embellishment to cement the fact that these albums, including "Taking Tiger Mountain", were way ahead of thier time, yet, still quite relevant to today by showing what true originality and experimentation is and always will be. Be Bop Deluxe Air Age Anthology (1997)
Better Than Nothing...Why EMI/Harvest would let the Be Bop Deluxe catalogue fade into obscurity is beyond me. Sad to think that only 3 of their "official" releases during their short life are available, "Air Age Anthology" serves a great purpose with its extensive collection of Be Bop's best. Could have been a 3 disc set, too. Maybe still time for the Harvest/Be Bop Box set someday. Too bad the liner notes on this CD compilation kind of suck, as there is no reference to which song came from what album. The remastering of the tracks this time around are not much better than the job done in 1990. Still better than nothing... Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON - Canada) 8/2/2004

Neil Young American Stars 'N Bars (1977)
One of the best DVDA's out there!Aside from being one of Neil Young's better albums, "American Stars n' Bars" gets the full treatment on the DVDA version. "Ole' Black" (Neil's Black Gibson) sounds awesome and songs like "Like A Hurricane" "Saddle Up The Palamino and "Homegrown" are better than ever. Stick this disc on, lay back and enjoy! Boston Boston (1976)
Super Audio CD
Never Sounded BetterThis is more than just staple classic rock radio fodder. When released Tom Scholz had just re-invented arena rock and delivered one of the best debut albums in Rock history. Would have been nice to have this SACD in Multi-Channel Surround, but the SACD stereo mix is quite clear and the music is given great justice and dedication. Never sounded better! Tubes White Punks On Dope (2004)
(Import) United Kingdom
2 For 1 Best Deal5 Stars simply because the 2 best Tubes albums are on one disc, this is the first time "Young & Rich" has been on CD and lastly, for the superior re-mastering job on both of these albums. Their debut album sounds so hot and crisp! More than just a flashback to the greatest decade in music! Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON - Canada) 8/2/2004

Neil Young On The Beach (1974)
Good, but not....GreatOne of Neil Young's best album, but I was disappointed to find out, upon delivery, that this DVD-A is "Enhanced Stereo" - not 5.1 Surround. Submitted by a reviewer (Toronto, ON, CAN) 5/7/2004
