Another one to avoid...bad recording Here is yet another reissue of a shoddy live recording. Seen on many differnt labels and titles like Red Hot and Live, Live, Respect Yourself and many others. If its under ten dollars and has this track list then avoid.
And why is this a bad recording? The sound and songs are great, but each songs fades out before its over, as if the someone thought the songs were just to long. A perfectly good live recording ruined.
Leave this one behind. Its not worth it.
I don't know how this recording can keep getting reissued on differentl labels. Does everyone own the rights to this? Can I also reissue it? Submitted by a reviewer (Portland Oregon) 6/25/2004
Killer live album I bought this when I just discovered Etta ( a few years ago)and was blown away. The energy and music on this are great. I wish she would have recorded more live albums. I was not even alive when this was recorded, but this album makes me very curious to know what is was like to be in a smokey dive way back then listening to live music as good as this. I only wish this cd was longer! Submitted by a reviewer (Oregon) 4/1/2002
Another bad reissue Please see Red Hot and Live for track listing. This is the same recording, a bad live recording. I assume everybody must have the rights to this since I have seen 4 issues of this concert under four labels and four titles. Buyer beware. Submitted by a reviewer (Portland Oregon) 3/26/2002
Avoid this title - worst live recording Etta James should sue over this. This is a shoddy live recording that has been reissued several times (Platinum collection, Respect Yourself ect) The songs are all faded out at the end ruining a good performence. Someone must have thought the songs were to long and decided to cut them short. Big dissapointment. Avoid this and buy one of her other fine recordings like Live in San Francisco!
