Inspired Writing
I wish they had stuck to this formula. Mindcrime, Warning, Promised Land are great - but just doesn't catch me like Rage. The guitar solos trading back and forth on "London" is one of the best solo sections I've ever heard in rock music. Wilton/DeGarmo didn't overplay on this album, very thoughtful playing. Just listen to the solo in "The Killing Words" - gives me shivers when I hear that solo - brilliant the way the rest of the band holds that brief pause at the beginning of the solo - best DeGarmo solo if you ask me - perfect feel and note selection. Outstanding song writing and feel. It's almost like a soundtrack for a movie never made.
