Feelin' Good
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First ...

$16.65 CRUEL SMILE was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album.
CRUEL SMILE is a limited-edition companion piece to Elvis Costello's other 2002 release WHEN I WAS CRUEL, which was a return to rock-oriented tunes after dalliances with Anne Sofie Von Otter and Burt Bacharach. The main ties to WHEN I WAS CRUEL are a handful of live recordings of songs from that album and some remixed versions. Beyond those, CRUEL SMILE lives and breathes on its own, offering "When I Was Cruel No. 1," where it's predecessor contained only "No. 2," which is an entirely different composition. Elvis covers the Charlie Chaplin chestnut "Smile" in two different versions, includes live ...
| | Rob Stone & The C-Notes No Worries CD (1999)
Feelin' Good
$14.79 Although they're solidly rooted in postwar Chicago blues tradition (spiced with a serious tendency to swing), labeling Rob Stone & The C-Notes a traditional blues band would be an injustice to their imagination. This young Windy City combo is charting its own direction. The band has paid plenty of dues in its short life, as an integral member of the touring band of Sam Lay - the blues shuffle master drummer (of Paul Butterfield and Siegal-Schwall fame) - from 1994 to 1998. Prior to that, Rob played harmonica in various bands in his home town of Boston, after picking up the instrument at age eighteen, inspired by seeing Charlie Musselwhite in concert. Chris James, lead guitarist of the C-Notes, at age thirteen started playing harmonica with San Diego's Tomcat Courtney. After ten years with Tomcat, Chris took up guitar, eventually moving to Chicago and ...

$17.15 TVFMC have been at the forefront of the Brazilian music resurgence in Australia. One of only a few bands in the country performing and writing in this style, their debut album is a reflection of the joy they find in this music, and the obvious love they have for it.Founding members Anje West & Kym Ambrose spent three months living in Brazil, studying songwriting, arranging and percussion. Their music teacher was the legendary producer/arranger & composer Alberto Farah. You can hear his work here: http://www.promusico.comThis is a beautiful c.d. recorded by musicians who are deeply passionate about where this music comes from. PLEASE NOTE: The band has almost sold out of its first pressing of Tranquilo. CDBaby will have only ten more copies to sell. Once these are gone, CDBaby won't have any more to sell. The cd won't be re-pressed until the band's second album is completed in January. If you really, really still want an album, get in touch with the band via their website. Who knows....there could be a few strays under the bed!"What I have to say about Kym is very simple, he is a fantastic composer, an outstanding musician, able to perform on the vibraphone in the highest artistic and technical levels. I'm very impressed with his musical approach to our Brazilian music, our grooves and harmonic ...
