Air out the tights, slip on the mask, don the cape, and prepare to flex some muscles in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, an action role-playing game featuring the largest cast of costumed crusaders and mutant messiahs in a video game to date. Twenty Marvel superheroes have joined forces to combat the diabolical Dr. Doom and his Masters of Evil. The action will take players to Atlantis, the Skrull home world, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Heli-Carrier, and more as they guide a four-person party through 17 comic book-inspired locales. Moves include a flurry of air and ground strikes, from grapples and blocks to chargeable powers and deadly combos. Objects within the environment can also cause damage, and a choice of one- and two-handed weapons can help less extraordinary heroes mete out justice against throngs of enemies. Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions add a number of visual enhancements to the action, including dynamic lighting effects, articulated body parts, and more.
As players decide on which heroes to enlist in their super group, including such iconic characters as Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Thing, Captain America, Elektra, and Thor, they can customize their team's name, icon, and vehicle. The party's reputation will increase over time through heroic deeds and by successfully completing mission objectives, allowing players the opportunity to further enhance the team's or a specific character's attributes. The cast includes more than 140 comic book characters in total, many of which are available in the single-player storyline and can be unlocked for multiplayer action. The latter supports both cooperative and competitive battles, with in-game statistics tracked for each team as players earn experience points and receive powerful new equipment. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance also features unlockable bonus content, such as alternate costumes that modify a character's base statistics in the areas of defense, melee damage, and so forth.
One of my favorite games It’s a good game. It has killing graphics but only at the main cut scenes, plus a good range of super heroes you can choose to play with. You can have most fun playing with some friends on the co-op mode. In my opinion it’s a game you should have in your collection. Buy right now! Great fun game This game has been a lot of fun and a good follow-up on the X-men game type. I love how the health and energy orbs are now earned as people are killed and that it doesn't cost to revive your teammates! My only complaint is that the cost for skill points seems to be a little high. To get the last skill point for any special/boost/radial is over 300,000 points. Other than that, the game is a lot of fun to play and a great way to rack up 1,250 Gamerscore in achievements! Submitted by cary.trusty (Indianapolis, IN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Solid and well paced The moment you fire up your copy of this game, the moment the opening movie sets the stage for the story to come, the moment you first finger your joypad to control your hero, from these first momentous moments you know the mighty marvel magic is going to keep you glued to the screen for hours and hours of play.
The character appearances and those which are playable are greater in number than any previous hero game. Play with an established team and receive bonuses to your squads' actions. You can even make your own "dream team".
This is a winner and if your system has the muscle to jack the settings up full blast, you are in for a treat. It is playable on the minimum system reqs, but really shines with a beefy system. If you don't have the PC muscle to make it shine, then consider the X-box (360 or regular) version, as they are both quite nicely suited to the maxed capabilities of both systems.
Most importantly, Enjoy! Submitted by polymage69 (Taipei, Taiwan) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.
Great addictive game I really liked the camera control in the nunchuck, and the movement-based powers are really fun to use.
