Hitting store shelves in a springtime when hundreds of thousands of Hideo Kojima fans were anxiously awaiting the projected summer release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PlayStation 3, this PlayStation 2 compilation is presented as an opportunity to catch up on back story, as well as to play (or re-play) through three of the earlier PlayStation consoles' most highly acclaimed stealth games. Included are a PlayStation 2 port of the original PlayStation version of Metal Gear Solid -- the game that some say defined the stealth genre -- and the "Directors Cut" editions of its two PS2 sequels, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

5 stars 3 games for $29
Okay so you get Metal Gear Solid 1,2,and 3. 2 Substance version so you get extra stuff not in he original. And 3 Subsistence which has the now completely 3-D rotable camera not seen in the original Snake Eater version. So basically this is great for new comers, those who want to play them again or own them. Or if you really like MGS 3 you now have an much better version of the game same with MGS 2. A good release of 3 great games that once cost $50 each now all 3 for $29. Basically a good briefing before MGS 4 lands on June 12 for PS3 only and the PS3 80 GB models packaged with MGS 4 and Dual Shock 3 come out.

5 stars One of the best collections
Metal Gear Solid is one of the best series of the game history. And this collection just put all the three games in one impressive package. I recommend for everyone who likes to play a good game!

3 stars Disappointing for the MGS veteran
This package consists of the original MGS1, MGS2 SoL and MGS3 Subsistence without the extra MSX games. As a veteran in MGS series, I'm disappointed. Konami would have select MGS1 Integral, MGS2 Substance and MGS3 Subsistence with the MSX games instead. That would be a perfect collection.

5 stars A worthy MGS fan's collection...!
What can I say...You get 3 nice games for 30$...Metal Gear Solid for PlayStation 1, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, and Metal Gear Solid 3 Substansis...Only thing some may complain about is that its missing the 2nd bonus disc for Metal Gear Solid 3 which included the online play mode (which is long been no longer running the server or has been closed down), the monkey vs snake game with extra levels, and I guess theater mode...Not much you are missing in Metal Gear Solid 3 really in this collection...Overall its a wonderful collection to have for any MGS fan or newcomer who wants to catch up to the series... 5 stars for this nice product from Konami and Mr. Kojima...!

5 stars Amazing collection!!!
What can I say about the MGS series that you haven´t heard yet. The best stealth action game ever. This pack includes MGS1 (2 cds, you need a Ps1 memory card to save), MGS2 Substance and MGS3 Subsistence (only the disc 1). The games doesn´t have any new upgrades but the cover art is new. The box is made of paper (not as "solid" as one made of plastic) but for this price you can´t get more. Don´t think it more and get one copy now.
