In the Bronx, circa 1950, a police officer's (Dutton) son is arrested for the murder of a white boy. His brother, John, a lawyer, agrees to defend him, but quickly realizes Charles Jr is not telling the truth. Meanwhile, John and Charles take criticism from their younger brother, a jazz musician, who accuses his brothers of following the course whitey has laid down for them. The investigation leads John to a conspiracy that goes beyond the police, and he soon begins to reassess how he looks at himself and his country. -- Janet Maslin, New York Times Blind Faith Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Respect & Acceptance I found "Blind Faith" to be very compelling. All of the actors were brilliant. I found this movie to quite touching. It is so sad, lonely and unfortunate that society places stigmas on people for being themselves. I can relate to Charlie, Jr. in every aspect of his life. I'm 38 y/o and I still don't have half the courage as he does to accept who I really am. I admired him. Submitted by a reviewer (Atlanta, GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.69 Cora (Madeleine Stowe) and her younger sister, Alice (Jodhi May), both recent arrivals to the colonies, are being escorted to their father, Colonel Munro (Maurice Roeves), by a troop of British soldiers. Along the way they are ambushed by a Huron war party led by Magua (Wes Studi), a sinister warrior with a blood vendetta against Munro. Munro's soldiers are wiped out and Cora herself is nearly killed by Magua but is saved at the last moment by Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis), a white trapper raised by the Mohican tribe. Hawkeye promises to take Cora and her sister safely to their father, and along the way Cora and the intense Hawkeye fall in love. Together they must survive wilderness, war, and the relentless pursuit of Magua.
Returning to the theme of a great love threatened by overwhelming circumstances, director Michael Mann hits the mark with an adaptation that captures the essence of the book and its historical details perfectly. Day-Lewis and Stowe are beautiful to ...
