A Great Work of Art Kick back, turn up the volume and enjoy. This is the kind of movie you can play all weekend while you have friends over and clean your house. Elton John, Tina Turner, Ann Margaret, and Eric Clapton are all fantastic. Great choreography, design, and music. Delightful campy fun! Great Music (and aesthetically pleasing to boot) This may seem quite superficial, but let's face it - Roger Daltrey still played the Sex God while trying to portray Tommy, the deaf, dumb, and blind boy. When he belts out "I'm Free" and runs down the beach topless, a girl can't help but feel butterflies in her stomach. Nevertheless, the music in this rock opera if fantastic. Elton John and Tina Turner are completely fabulous in their performances!

FAROUT MAN This is a cool classic This movie is a classic, for it takes you back to a time where most of the world only cared about 3 things and those of us from the "HEAVY TRIP" age know what those 3 things are and life seemed easy then, unlike now but still it's a good movie you might want to own it. Tommy - Double agent for Pink Floyd's The Wall This movie is the story of a boy, Tommy (Played by Rodger Daltrey), who had a horribly traumatic experience as a child, which made him deaf, dumb and blind. His mother begins to go insane because she can't grasp how he is still sane without knowing anything about the world around him. As he ages he becomes a hero to the youth of America by becoming the Pinball Wizard. After he gains his sight, hearing and intellect he becomes a god to his followers who eventually turn on him.
What bothers me about this movie is that it reminds me of Pink Floyd's The Wall. A boy is traumatized as a child, grows up to have a fan base, and then turns into a dictator of sorts, who eventually turn on him. It's basically the same story, just told differently and with a different soundtrack.
I like this movie because it's put together well, the story is interesting and takes you into the mind of a very crazy band, The Who. I suggest it for anyone who loves rock and roll music and has a taste for something odd told in a facinating way.
4 stars from me because its such a cool movie and its nice to know that The Who could do something besides just play cool music. Submitted by a reviewer (Rutland, VT) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.

This classic rock opera is brought energetically to life by an outstanding cast including many stars of the rock music industry. Told through the remarkable music of The Who, this is the story of Tommy, who, when just a boy of six, wit¬nessed the murder of his father by his mother (Ann-Margret) and her lover (Oliver Reed). They command him, “You didn’t hear it, you didn’t see it, and you won’t say anything to any¬one…” As a result, the traumatized boy retreats into the shadows of his mind and becomes deaf, dumb and blind. Growing into manhood, Tommy (Roger Daltrey) is subjected to several bizarre cure attempts by The Acid Queen (Tina Turner), the Preacher (Eric Clapton), and the Specialist (Jack Nicholson). In spite of his handicap, Tommy defeats the Pinball Wizard (Elton John) and becomes the champ, attaining a devoted following. When he is finally cured, he is hailed by his fans as a “Messiah.”
