great movie
One of the best war movies of all time. Great acting and terrfic scenes. You will not find a better movie that combines the facts of the battle and brings forth the raw, powerful emotions all in one package.

Movie angle from the German side.
Refreshing to see a movie where the German Army was the main theme. Lots of German troops moving forward under fire. A slight inaccurracy in the helmets, some being post war but over all a good rendition. Although the ending,in truth, was a bad ending for the Germans, it would have been nice to see one of the hero's escape back to the homeland. Most didn't, but a few did.

A worthwhile perpsective for North American viewers
If you have seen arguably realistic, relatively accurate cinematic portrayals of WW2 such as "Saving Private Ryan", "Band of Brothers" series, and "A bridge Too Far", as examples, then one should appreciate a German view on the German military of WW2. This movie was good at portraying average Wermacht soldiers as people, just as the aforementioned movies did the same from American and British perspectives. North American viewers would do well to watch Stalingrad with a critica, yet accepting mind of "another" viewpoint of a crucial chapter in WW2.
