This 98 minute feature film is a DVD starring Peter Billin gsley, Darren McGavin, and Melinda Dillon. Discontinued.
This vignette-laden, nostalgic view of Christmastime in 1940s Indiana follows nine-year-old Ralphie, who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas--and is waging an all-out campaign to convince his reluctant parents that the toy will be safe in his hands. By turns warped and winsome, the comedy follows Ralphie as he prepares for the big day with his rather idiosyncratic family. Based on the novel by humorist Jean Shepherd (who also narrates the film), A CHRISTMAS STORY gained popularity long after its theatrical run, through frequent holiday broadcasts that turned its schoolyard "triple-dog" dares, family neuroses, and childhood indignities into a Yuletide tradition.
Color by Medallion.
Additional cast: Ian Petrella (Randy), R.D. Robb (Schwartz), and Tedde Moore (Miss Shields).

A Yearly Christmas Story for my Family Although we know the story backwards and forwards, watching this movie is part of our Christmas celebration every year. Knowing what is going to happen only increases our enjoyment.

The Best Family Movie for any time of the year I have always loved Christmas movies\stories. One of my favorites even at my age is Christmas Story. It is such a movie to watch and to recapture your own childhood through the eyes of your own children. To watch the family struggle to understand the meaning of the real Christmas is such a joy to see, not only at Christmas but at any time of the year is a joy to me. I think personally that this film protrays the real meaning of the "Holiday Seasoning". Thanks for having it available on DVD. You will have my bussiness no matter where I am and I thank you.

A Must Have! This is one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. I'm sure most people have seen this movie at least 10 times during the Christmas season. They run a marathon every year. I would recommend to have this on hand for any occasion during the year, not just Christmas! Submitted by a reviewer (MD, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 2 of 3 found this helpful.
