The Simpsons star in their first Christmas special, wallowing in the dysfunction that makes them so endearing.
In this episode, Homer finds himself short of cash and unable to buy gifts (doh!). So he takes a job as a part-time Santa -- which creates more problems than it solves...
Meanwhile, Bart takes a liking to a sickly racing dog, and the family eventually adopts him. As a result, The Simpsons realize that the true meaning of Christmas is rooted in love, not material items. 'Twas the week before Christmas, but fate played a joke. No tree and no presents--Homer is broke! Matt Groening's fractured family gets together for a hilarious holiday. (By the way, "Homer Simpson" is the main character in the novel "Day of the Locust" by Nathaneal West). A Gracie Films Production in association with Twentieth Television.
