When an earthquake triggers a giant burst of lava from the La Brea Tar Pits, sending great spews of lava all over various Los Angeles neighborhoods and causing all manner of flaming magma mayhem, dedicated Emergency Management director Mike Roark rushes to the rescue, with help from a plucky seismologist. A no-holds-barred cataclysmic extravaganza, replete with "lava bombs" bursting in air, a toned-down flirtatiousness between the city's saviors, and the straight-faced "how-will-we-stop-it?" suspense factor of the classic Hollywood disaster epics. Volcano Reviews: "...VOLCANO is sharply edited for maximum mayhem, played at top volume, and filled with every imaginable volcano-related effect this side of the lava lamp. The effects are grand and stupefying..."-- Stephen Holden, New York Times "...The poker-faced preposterousness of VOLCANO is exactly what's fun about it..."
-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "...VOLCANO glows with heat....A disaster picture that's tastier than usual..."

Volcano Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) The suspense will knock your socks off Scientist have said that the Tar pits are a basis of an opening in the equator. Some have water (Yosemite Park) others have tar (LaBrea Tar pits) and the basic Lava (Volcanos)
The story plot using the LaBrea Tar pits, makes you wonder, it could be or it just might be fiction, what nature has in-store for us next.
If you want action, suspense, Drama, great awesome graphics, then this is the movie to watch. I give it 5 stars ***** Submitted by antoniaperez (Flower Mound, TX-Originally Los Angeles, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$10.29 In M. Night Shyamalan's THE SIXTH SENSE, Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a successful Philadelphia child psychologist who is haunted by the sudden reappearance and suicide of a former patient. Months later Dr. Crowe encounters Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), a troubled, withdrawn young boy who bears a striking similarity to his earlier patient. Dr. Crowe is compelled to help Cole, not only for the boy's sake, but for his own redemption. As Dr. Crowe struggles to determine what torments Cole, he must also come to terms with his increasingly distant relationship to his wife (Olivia Williams). Meanwhile, Cole is unable to describe the horrible things he sees even to his worried mother (Toni Collette). The scene where Cole finally tells Dr. Crowe about his supernatural secret is one of the 1990s most quoted and well-known cinematic moments.
A gripping ghost story with a stunning finale, THE SIXTH SENSE ...

$7.89 Matty (Barry Pepper) is the only son of Brooklyn mobster Benny "the Chains" (Dennis Hopper). Considered too sensitive for mob work, but unable to find a regular job, Matty finally gets a chance to join his dad's organization when he agrees to arrange transport of half a million dollars across the country. When it winds up lost in a small Montana town, Matty and his assortment of tough-guy pals (played by Andrew Davoli, Seth Green, and Vin Diesel) are forced to fly out there, tangle with the locals, and find the money before their disappointed elders come to get them, guns blazing.
KNOCKAROUND GUYS features stylishly washed-out, gritty cinematography and benefits from a refreshing lack of the expected "city folk stranded in a small town" gags. Instead it's a tale of identity crisis-plagued boys blasting their blood-soaked way into manhood, with the dependable Diesel easily stealing the prize with his turn as Matty's philosophic brawler pal. John Malkovich--sporting ...

| | Easy Rider DVD (1969) Widescreen; Special Edition
Volcano movie DVD
$8.35 A landmark in film history, EASY RIDER blew the studio doors open for more young directors than any film before or since, helping to create the wide-open climate that would lead to the production of many outstanding films in the 1970s. As its director, Dennis Hopper is usually given the lion's share of credit for the film's success, but the revelations of time suggest that the contributions of the late Terry Southern and, to some degree, Jack Nicholson have endowed the film with much of its residual power.
Starring Peter Fonda as Wyatt (alias Captain America) and Hopper as Billy, it traces the hippie duo's adventures as they mount their seriously chopped hogs on a journey to find the real America en route to Mardi Gras. In Arizona, they visit a commune whose members are having a tough time, and in a small Texas town they're jailed for joining a parade. But they're quickly sprung by an ACLU lawyer, the quirky, ...
