The year is 1978: the KISS Army is at the height of its powers. Enter card-carrying members Hawk (Edward Furlong), Trip, Lex, and Jam, four Detroit teenagers who will do anything to go to the KISS show. As we follow them through one day, we see the insane lengths these shaggy-haired young chaps will go to in order to see their favorite rock-and-roll superheroes at a Detroit arena. The band themselves show up in full regalia as their 1978 selves, but Natasha Lyonne steals the show as a sweet young disco mama. | | Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail DVD (2009) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Detroit Rock City video
$14.65 Multitalented screenwriter, director, playwright, and actor Tyler Perry delivers yet another comedy feature from his popular MADEA film series. Largely concerned with African American family life, Perry splits his efforts between the outrageous Madea films and other, slightly more serious features such as 2008’s THE FAMILY THAT PREYS. As the name suggests, MADEA GOES TO JAIL, based on the 2006 play of the same title, once again stars Perry himself as Mabel B. Simmons (nicknamed Madea), the feisty, gun-loving grandmother audiences have adored on stage and screen since she first appeared in the 2002 play MADEA’S FAMILY REUNION. When Madea ends up in jail following a series of violent outbursts, she finds herself in equally eccentric company and causes chaos among her fellow inmates. In a fat suit and women’s clothing, Perry keeps things light while exploring signature themes of redemption, such as the young attorney (Derek Luke, NOTORIOUS) who sets out to help a prostitute (Keshia Knight Pulliam, THE COSBY SHOW) who holds a special place in his heart.
The New Orleans-born Renaissance man once again proves ...

Detroit Rock City film
$8.79 A rougher version of George Roy Hill's pet theme of men as overaged adolescents, SLAP SHOT stars Paul Newman as Reggie Dunlop, the venerable player-coach of the Charlestown Chiefs, a fifth-rate minor league hockey team. When their blue-collar town falls prey to Rust Belt ills of the 1970s, attendance drops, and the greedy owner starts looking for a buyer, anxious to cash out. Dunlop is informed that the players need to crank up the box office to keep their jobs in what will likely be their last season. To the coach's dismay, general manager Joe McGrath (Strother Martin) imports the Hanson brothers, a hockey Three Stooges who like to assault soda machines and play with toys. But once Dunlop turns them loose, they're a ...
