$9.79 The life of James Dean is the stuff of legend. Despite spending little time on the planet and leaving behind a relatively small body of work, the actor is an icon for disaffected teenagers everywhere. SENSE MEMORIES looks at Dean's last year on earth, which saw him star in three films which are revered among the all-time greats (REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, EAST OF EDEN, and GIANT). A fascinating study, many friends and colleagues appear to fondly tell their stories of working with the star, while viewers will undoubtably wonder what the future could possibly have held had Dean not perished at such a tragically early age.

James Dean Story video
$15.45 Director Steven Spielberg's World War II tour de force chronicles the journey of a GI squad on a dangerous mission behind enemy lines. Led by Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks), the unit is under orders to track down a soldier, Private Ryan (Matt Damon), so he might return home to his mother in America, where she is grieving the unimaginable loss of her three other sons to the war. The first unforgettable 20 minutes of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN realistically and horrifically depicts the Normandy invasion as Miller. his second-in-command, Sergeant Horvath (Tom Sizemore), and the others in the unit land at Omaha Beach. Before the film began shooting, Hanks and the actors in his squad went through a one-week boot camp in the woods. All the actors, except Hanks, wanted to quit, but Hanks rallied their spirits by reminding them of the incredible tribulations endured by the real veterans of World War II. Production designer Tom Sanders found a beach in Ireland that perfectly matched the landscape of Normandy's. Spielberg gave great credit to the Irish army who helped re-create the Omaha Beach scenes.

James Dean Story film
$14.75 A good but slightly ineffectual man tries to off himself after an error that really wasn't his fault. In Christmas Carol fashion, his crusty-but-lovable guardian angel shows up to give him a tour of the world without his presence, and it isn't a pretty place. Moral courage, small-town American life, civic cooperation, and family love are glorified; corporate greed and self-involvement are vilified; at the climax, a blanket of snow like spun sugar makes everything pure and clean like redemption itself.

$7.09 Tess (Melissa Crider) has fooled everyone, including herself, by playing the role of the happily married wife. Yet, when her husband Jim (Tim Abell), known in the community as a righteous cop, displays uncharacteristically violent and angry behavior, she becomes suspicious of the man she loves. Tess discovers that her husband has secretly murdered nine women and obtains evidence strong enough to put Tim in prison for life. Escaping from the state pen, Jim plans to get his revenge on Tess, but Tess has hired a self defense trainer (Mark Dacascos) and is prepared to end this nightmare once and for all. This straight-to-video action film is a showcase for the martial arts skills of Mark Dacascos, but story is not sacrificed as the film benefits from a compelling, disturbing script from Randall Frakes and B-movie auteur Josh Olson (INFESTED).
