ROBOT TAKING ENERGY FROM EARTH GREAT! Submitted by ponaski (PUNTA GORDA FL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Rampaging robots! "Kronos" is not a great SF film, but presented like this -- in beautiful black-and-white and widescreen (VERY widescreen) -- it looks fantastic. That's why I've given it 4 instead of the more realistic 3 stars. And it's a lot of fun, too. Highly recommended for those who love giant-alien-machines-on-a-rampage movies. Cult High Only for the faithful cult sci-fi fan. Very old and moldy...special effects to laugh at, but consider the year it was made.......a true "c" movie and I guess a must for true sci-fi cult fans Submitted by sketch481 (Gurnee, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not your average 50s sci-fi movie okay, so it's another 50s alien invasion flick, but the concept of a giant, energy-absorbing robot is a new twist compared hairy monsters etc. technical execution is really good for a low-budget movie.
the dvd-quality with the movie in lbx format is execellent. esspecially for the low price, you can't do wrong! Submitted by a reviewer (Berlin, Germany) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Kronos DVD Scientists at a "Top Secret" atomic research laboratory are taken over by strange fantastic control devices launched from an orbiting space ship inhabited by a hostile super-intelligence from beyond the stars. Simultaneously, a gigantic flying saucer crashes in the Gulf of Mexico and Kronos, a giant metallic monolith monster, emerges. Unstoppable, it slashes across the countryside, draining the earth of all its electrical energy and beaming it into space. Kronos, a weapon so perfect in design it absorbs a direct hit by a Hydrogen bomb and becomes that much more powerful! Atomic age excitement! Atomic age thrills! All in out-of-this-world "Regalscope" format for the first time on DVD.

$10.09 Don Siegel's cult masterpiece, interpreted as an allegory of both McCarthyism and Communism, is undoubtedly one of the screen's most disturbing evocations of paranoia. It stars Kevin McCarthy as Dr. Miles Binnell, a physician whose traumatized arrival in the emergency room of a San Francisco hospital leads the staff to believe he's lost his mind. In a series of flashbacks, he unwinds a bizarre account of his last few days. After his return from a trip to rural Santa Mira, his nurse, Sally (Jean Willes), explains that his office has been flooded with patients who have made appointments yet never appeared. Former girlfriend Becky Driscoll (Dana Wynter) tells him that she's unable to rid herself of the belief that the man claiming to be her uncle is an impostor. A hysterical young boy refuses to return home, claiming that his mother is not his mother. Miles's concern over this pattern of incidents, temporarily allayed by some jargon from the town psychiatrist, is newly aroused when he gets a phone call from friend Jack Belicec (King Donovan), who begs him to come over and take a look at the strange mannequinlike figure that's suddenly appeared on his pool table. This exceptionally well written and directed fable, the ultimate comment on the subtly coercive conformity of ...

| | A Different World - The Complete First Season DVDs (1987) Box Set
Kronos DVD
$14.35 A popular spin-off of THE COSBY SHOW, A DIFFERENT WORLD followed the oldest Huxtable sibling, Denise (Lisa Bonet, HIGH FIDELITY), off to college at Hillman, a mostly Black university from which her parents and grandparents also graduated. The show was a catalyst for the careers of many unknowns, including Jada Pinkett (ALI), Marisa Tomei (ALFIE), Sinbad (JINGLE ALL THE WAY), and Kadeem Hardison (BIKER BOYZ), and was seminal in its concentration on the daily lives and issues of African-American college kids.
In the first season, Denise struggles with her grades, as well as the difficulties of dorm life and love. Her roommate, Jaleesa (Dawn Lewis), is a 26-year-old divorcée with whom Denise at first has conflicts, but they soon become good friends, along with the talkative Maggie Lauten (Tomei). But Denise and her friends are often at odds with the wealthy, snobbish Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy). Finally, freshman Dwayne Wayne is the source of many laughs, as his persistent attempts to hit on women are constantly rebuffed. This show encapsulates the look, feel, and humor of the 1980s, and holds up today as either a nostalgic trip down memory lane, or a first-time discovery.
From the creators of the top-rated THE COSBY SHOW comes A DIFFERENT WORLD, a fresh funny situation comedy that follows ...
