The fact that a five-disc box can barely scratch the surface speaks more about jazz's rich legacy than it does about any shortcomings of this impressive soundtrack to Burns' work. The discs are divided up chronologically, moving from the Dixieland sound of Louis Armstrong and King Oliver to the big bands of Duke Ellington, on to the bop innovations of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Ving Rhames plays a comical drag queen in this heartwarming movie about a drug addicted mother, her lovely young daughter and a widowed gay man / drag queen. This movie really warms the heart and soul, but is also very comedic..it's definatly worth the buy!

THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE, SHOWING JUST HOW TOUGH LIFE CAN REALLY BE. BUT THROUGH IT ALL, WITH THE HELP OF GOD, SILAS AND HOLIDAY, NIKKI WAS THE WINNER AFTER ALL.
