Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish; Director's Comments It's Thanksgiving, so you know what that means -- dinner with your family, for better or for worse. But Claudia Larson's woes begin right before she flies home: she loses her job, and her teenage daughter swears she will lose her virginity while Claudia is away. And when she arrives at her parents' home, things do not improve, thanks to Claudia's quirky family. This includes her meddling mom, an obnoxious gay brother, her unsmiling, resentful sister, and a very odd, flatulent aunt. The next two days will prove difficult for Claudia, but they will not be without moments of tenderness, caring and love. This all-star, all-too-familiar tale revolves around the Thanksgiving turkey that lures a young woman home every year to her typical American family only to be embarrassed all over again by her loony relatives. Produced by Jodie Foster's production company, Egg Pictures.

Home For The Holidays Movie Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) a little gem This is one of the best movies I know. Around the holidays, at least around here, the tv programming people treat us to movies that will get you grumpy and sad!! So, I'm glad I have this on DVD. It's a little gem. All of the casting and acting is great. Holly Hunter and Robert Downey junior are incredible. The movie is insightful, funny, touching and fun to watch....thanks to Egg Productions as well. This Film Puts the Fun Back in Disfunctional Can't seem to build up the courage to go home to Mom and Dad this year? If so, this is the picture for you. You'll fall over laughing as you recognize the pains (and pleasures) of Claudia's family life as akin to your own. You'll feel so glad you didn't buy the plane ticket home this year. Until twenty minutes into the picture when all you want to do it call Mom and Dad just to tell them you love them. Sure Mom will fret and lecture and Dad will ramble about the state of the lawn and quickly become distracted by a noise coming from the furnace, but you'll be glad that you are there to hear that slightly senile, but mostly endearing chemistry that you marvel they still have after so many years. But, if you can't give them a call, snuggle down with Claudia for her Thanksgiving dinner. You won't be disappointed. Submitted by a reviewer (Boston, MA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

OVERLOOKED COMEDY I don't know why this picture wasn't a bigger success in the theatres. It is filled with many really fully-realized characterizations, comic family moments, and sockko performances from Holly Hunter and Robert Downey, Jr. I intend to see it every Thanksgiving. WILD If your family is somewhat disfunctual, you will love this movie. This family is off the wall and funny. Robert Downey Jr. is great as always. Holly Hunter is wonderful also.
Watch this movie and be thankful that this is not your family or you might be wishing it was your family.
