Closed Captioned; Second Audio Track; Bio/Filmographies; Soundtrack English; Academy Awards; Director's Comments; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Behind The Scenes David Lean's DOCTOR ZHIVAGO is an exploration of the Russian Revolution as seen from the point of view of the intellectual, introspective title character (Omar Sharif). As the political landscape changes, and the Czarist regime comes to an end, Dr. Zhivago's relationships reflect the political turmoil raging about him. Though he is married, the vagaries of war lead him to begin a love affair with the beautiful Lara (Julie Christie). But he cannot escape the machinations of a band of selfish and cruel characters: General Strelnikov (Tom Courtenay), a Bolshevik General; Komarovsky (Rod Steiger), Lara's former lover; and Yevgraf (Alec Guinness), Zhivago's sinister half-brother. This epic, sweeping romance, told in flashback, captures the lushness of Moscow before the war and the violent social upheaval that followed. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Boris Pasternak. Shot in Panavision.
Co-produced by Carlo Ponti Productions.
Writer Boris Pasternak won the Nobel Prize for his novel, but refused to accept the award.
Soviet director Sergei Eisenstein's film "Potemkin" provided inspiration for David Lean, who allegedly based the massacre scenes in "Zhivago" on that revolutionary classic.

Beautiful This is a beautifully crafted movie with a particularly poignant and moving musical score. The panoramic winter scenes are breathtaking and moreover, convey the frigid, essentially limitless expanse of Russia. In my opinion, this is one of the 5 or so best movies ever made. Doctor Zhivago review
$10.44 This eerie adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic tale was directed by Jonathan Miller. Choosing to explore the darker themes of the novel, this version, starring Michael Redgrave, John Gielgud, and Peter Sellers, remains a strikingly daring work. Parents might want to watch this first before subjecting their children to Miller's surrealistic vision.

$7.09 This searing, controversial, and thought-provoking drama examines the motives and emotions behind terrorism. Co-writer Ayad Akhtar stars as Hassan, a Pakistani man who's falsely accused of terrorist associations, then imprisoned and tortured before finally leaving jail as a genuinely militant extremist. He goes to stay with his old friend Sayeed in New York (Firdous Bamji in a scene-stealing performance), where he explores the city, flirts with Sayeed's sister (Nandana Sen), and works with a group planning to bomb Grand Central. The impressive cast of unknowns and solid direction from Joseph Castelo make this tense, thoughtful drama an intriguing look at a subculture that, for obvious reasons, is more often demonized than dramatized.
A Pakistani suicide bomber travels to New York City to join his cell with plans to begin the ground war in the United States. What unfolds is a profound human and political drama as he struggles to carry out his mission.
