In this cult classic from the twisted mind of Peter Jackson, the Feebles--a theater troupe consisting of cute, cuddly animals--are preparing for their live-TV debut in the hopes of getting their own syndicated series. Unfortunately, the cast members' private dilemmas always seem to get in the way of the group's success, and what with all the perverted sex, drug abuse, and violence they engage in, things are bound to end in tragedy. MEET THE FEEBLES is a crude but hilarious puppet spoof complete with musical numbers.
Director Peter Jackson's follow-up to his debut feature, the gross-out horror film BAD TASTE, is a scathing show-biz parody featuring a cast of foam rubber puppets. When we first meet our young hero, Robert the Hedgehog, he has just joined the Feebles (a Muppets-like musical theater troupe) as a member of the chorus. The group is busy preparing for its big live TV debut: "The Fabulous Feebles Variety Hour." If they do well and the ratings are high enough, they might get a syndicated series. Too bad that the show's host, Harry the Hare, is afflicted with venereal disease in its advanced stages, the smack-addled knife thrower is suffering from horrific withdrawal symptoms, and the star of the show, Heidi the Hippo, has developed a binge-eating problem after being dumped by the show's producer, Bletch, who, to top it all off, moonlights as a drug pusher. Poor Robert becomes a helpless witness to all sorts of perversions before events finally escalate out of control, culminating in a machine-gun shooting spree the likes of which are seldom seen in musical comedy. Of course, this sleazy puppet extravaganza is for adults only.
This film opened theatrically in the U.S. in 1995, only after the video release had already proven successful.
The funniest ,stupidest ,most brilliantly warped movie! As the headline speaks for itself Meet the Feebles is the funniest, grossest, most twisted puppet show i have ever seen.i own the vhs of it and hope to own the DVD soon. Amazing that Meet the Feebles and the Lord of the Rings trilogy can come from the same mind. Submitted by yodaman509 (Grand Island, Ne,USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Masterpiece on very low DVD quality MEET THE FEEBLES is one of the most entertaining trashy movie I know. Peter Jackson is simply a pure genius of trash humour. Besides that, the DVD is fullscreen with a VHS Quality (for the best part). A real disappointment ! Should another DVD editor work on that title? A must see! Peter Jackson's second feature is utterly funny. An entire cast of puppets made me a bit doubtfull at the begining, but... as is said in the trailer, from the director of "Bad Taste" comes a movie with no taste at all! Check it out! IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. This movie is pretty good but, the DVD sucks. The video quality is poor and they didn't even give this movie chapter selections. This movie is much better looking on video than it is on DVD. If you love seeing puppets nude and having sex get this movie. This DVD could have been better.
