transfer enigma! Nothing to say about the content of this DVD: one of the best moments in Jazz Hystory. And the TV program is complete, the sound quite good.
But what happened to the video transfer? It is unwatchable... I wonder why: I saw many excerpts of this program, years ago, and they were of very good video quality.
What a pity. Submitted by a reviewer (Florence, Italy) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Monk Missing from DVD The Sound of Jazz is still the best jazz program ever broadcast on tv. Unfortuantely this DVD is of so-so visual quality. It's no better than a VHS released by some of the same people a few years ago and is missing Thelonious Monk's performance that was included on the VHS. Nothing on the box says that the Monk segment has been deleted and his trio is still credited in the end roll.. Submitted by a reviewer (Montecito, CA USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
