One of the historic concerts of its time, Rap Mania - The Roots of Rap brought together 23 of the biggest artists in old school hip-hop, from the SugarhillGang to Kurtis Blow, Run DMC to LL Cool J. Recorded simultaneously at New York's Apollo Theater and The Palace in Los Angeles, this pay-per-view event concludes with the "greatest rap session of all time", as Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel and others come together for the night's final performance. Additional performers include Afrika Bambaataa, Def Jef, Tone Loc, Kwame, Nefertiti, 3rd Bass, Big Daddy Kane, Whodini, Eric B & Rakim, Special Ed, MC Trouble, Young Mc, Roxanne Shante, EPMD, Slick Rick, Ice T, More.
A host of rap legends gathered together to perform simultaneous concerts in New York at the Apollo and at L.A.'s The Palace to celebrate the roots of hip hop. Truly historic, this video is not to be missed by those who love hip hop. Old school performers who can be credited with inventing hip-hop (Afrika Bambaataa, Slick Rick, and Sugarhill Gang) perform side by side with some of those Mtv-era performers that they influenced (LL Cool J, Everlast, Ice-T, etc.).
