Fred MacMurray charms in this sweet story of a good-natured chap who looks for, finds, and settles in a small country town. He courts and marries a beautiful girl (Miles) and wins over the youth population, eventually becoming scoutmaster, with his easygoing nature and musical talents.
wonderful The story is very inspirational and at the same time realistic in portrayal. The acting is superb. If you add the fact that there is the historical background of an actual town and its boyscout troup and a hero of a man, it is awesome. AWSOME This movie was a great feel good show. My son has been a cub scout for 2 years now and he loved it. It excited him for the future in scouting. My dad has been a scoutmaster as well and this brought back so many memories of fun times. We as a family all enjoyed watching this together and that is rare now to find a full family movie!! Follow Me, Boys!
After one year too many on the road with a ramshackle jazz band, Lem Siddons (Fred MacMurray) decides to put down roots. He marries sweetheart Vida Downey (Vera Miles) and embarks on a lifelong roller-coaster ride as a scoutmaster to a steady stream of high-spirited youngsters. Set against lovingly recreated scenes of 1930s America, this family classic shines with all the warmth and humor of Disney entertainment at its nostalgic best.
