Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Behind The Scenes In this cathartic sequel to ALIEN, Ripley is rescued after years of hibernation in space and reluctantly drawn into a second encounter with the deadly xenomorphs, this time as part of a gung-ho platoon of narines. James Cameron's film is truly one of the greatest action movies of all time.
Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor from the original ALIEN, is awakened after 57 years of drifting through space, her stories disbelieved by Company executives who tell her that the alien's planet is now inhabited and colonized. When contact is suddenly lost with the colonists, Ripley returns to the planet with a squad of marines, an android (Lance Henriksen), and a Company executive (Paul Reiser) with a mission of his own. Once on the planet, no survivors can be found except for Newt, a little girl who awakens motherly instincts in Ripley just in time for the acid-blooded aliens to attack in what quickly becomes a one-sided battle for sheer survival. Considered by many to be the best of the series, ALIENS is a fast-paced, high-intensity thrill ride that set a new standard for action films and cemented director James Cameron's status as one of Hollywood's leading directors following the success of THE TERMINATOR. Weaver received an Academy Award nomination and became a feminist hero for her strong, sensitive performance as the survivor Ripley, while costars Reiser, Henriksen, and Bill Paxton all give career-making performances in this landmark sci-fi extravaganza. Aliens Quotes/Excerpts: "What the hell are we supposed to use, man? Harsh language?"--Frost (Ricco Ross) after Gorman has ordered the troops to unload their weapons
"They mostly come at night. Mostly"--Newt (Carrie Henn) on the aliens
"Game over, man! Game over!"--Hudson (Bill Paxton)
"Get away from her, you bitch!"--Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) to the queen alien as she attacks Newt Aliens Reviews: "...Canny, ironically funny and certainly successful when Weaver's around....ALIENS is a perfectly honorable sequel, taut, inexorably paced..."
-- Sheila Benson, Los Angeles Times "...[A] top-drawer sequel..."
-- Mike Clark, USA Today "...A flaming, flashing, crashing, crackling blow-em-up show that keeps you popping from your seat....[Weaver] is a one-woman army..."
-- Walter Goodman, New York Times "...Gripping..." -- Rating: B+
-- Ira Robbins, Entertainment Weekly "...Technically, [the] film is superior in all respects. Special effects are varied and always convincing..."

Aliens Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A Sequel That Rocks!!! You just mention the name James Cameron and you got yourself a fantastic movie. Way more action and aliens than the first one. Gives a lot more information about the aliens and how they breed. You will love Sigourney Weaver in this movie! James Cameron rocks He should have directed Alien 3 as well but that's besides the point. Aliens not only continues the saga of Ellen Ripley but also brings you a new chapter of survival and fantastic creature effects such as the introduction to the Queen Alien. A definite buy. Great movie It took me years to warm-up to Aliens, the first movie being so well done it always seemed like a trivial version of the first movie. But finally I did warm up to it and it is a favorite of mine now. I particularly love the humor in this movie, Bill Paxston steals scene after scene with his complaining and whining. Aliens film
$14.45 Horror author Anne Rice penned the screenplay for this full-blooded adaptation of her novel, which chronicles the life of 18th-century nobleman Louis (Brad Pitt) after he is bitten by powerful, charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). Though enthralled with the undead lifestyle at first, Louis is unable to warm up to killing humans and grows despondent. To comfort Louis, Lestat creates another vampire (Kirsten Dunst in a star-making peformance), a young girl who from then on cannot age. Antonio Banderas appears as Armand, a 400-year-old vampire, and Christian Slater plays the radio producer who interviews the remorseful Louis.
Director Neil Jordan captures the lush decadence and erotic fervor of the novel, infusing the film with rich, dusky tones. The big budget is well used to bring each period and place to sharply detailed life, and there is no skimping on the blood or immortal angst. Thandie Newton has a small role as Louis's Creole servant near the beginning of the film, and Jordan regular Stephen Rea appears as a Parisian vampire theater star. INTERVIEW broke weekend box-office records when it premiered ...

Aliens review
$9.85 This five-song EP was Suffocation's first release after their split with Roadrunner Records, and until they surprisingly announced that they were re-forming in early 2003, it also looked to be their last release, period. Originally released on the small Vulture label and later reissued by Relapse in 2002, this disc is prime Suffocation, or in other words, brutal New York-style death metal at its best. For all their imitators over the years, this quintet remains unmatched when it comes to this type of battering, hardcore-laced death metal. These songs are highly complex without sounding forced or arbitrary -- check out the deceptively simple odd-time-signature maneuvers at the beginning of opener "Funeral Inception" for merely one example -- but they're also memorable in a way that few other bands in this style can manage. As always, the guitar interplay of Doug Cerrito and Terrence Hobbs is top-notch, and Frank Mullen's growling vocals are as intimidating and menacing as anyone's. While only 16 minutes long, this EP is as good -- minute per minute -- as Suffocation's standout 1995 full-length Pierced From Within, and despite the presence of not-always-ideal producer/engineer Scott Burns once again, the sound is actually better than it was on that album. Recommended. ~ William ...

Aliens movie DVD
$7.09 A decade after Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) destroyed the original Terminator, a second unstoppable killing machine (Arnold Schwarzenegger) arrives from the post-apocalyptic year 2029. But this time his mission is to stop an even deadlier Terminator, the T-1000 (Robert Patrick), made entirely of shape-shifting liquid metal and determined to kill young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the future leader of the human resistance. Sarah, John, and the Terminator counter by going after the scientist responsible for developing Skynet, the computer system fated to destroy humanity, leading to an explosive and spectacular clash with the fate of humanity in the balance. Whereas James Cameron's original THE TERMINATOR was a low-budget marvel of efficiency and speed, TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY is an action-packed blockbuster with some of the most amazing stunts ever filmed and ground-breaking, Academy Award-winning special effects. Star Schwarzenegger was paid in the form of a $15 million dollar jet to revisit his most famous role as the Terminator, this time made kinder and gentler against the silent, relentless T-1000. One of the most popular films of the 1990s, James Cameron's action masterpiece is both a thoughtful look at violence in human nature and an exciting, nonstop thrill ride.

$13.55 Director Ridley Scott's breakthough film, an immensely successful blend of horror and science fiction, is a classic in both genres and spawned a host of sequels and imitators. Starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley, ALIEN focuses on the crew of the space cargo ship Nostromo, which lands on a moribund planet in response to a faint SOS. Inside a crashed ship, the crew members come upon strange pods, one of which spews forth a repellently fleshy insectile creature that locks on to the face of the unlucky Kane (John Hurt). Despite Ripley's advice, science officer Ash (Ian Holm) allows Kane to return to the ship, where the creature finally releases its grip. Soon, however, in one of the film's most infamous scenes, one of its offspring explodes horribly from Kane's stomach and scurries away. Dallas (Tom Skerritt), the vessel's captain, leads the others in a search for the rapidly growing, acid-dripping alien before it can cut them down--one by one.
A triumph of art direction, set design, and special effects, ALIEN gains much of its impact from the contrast between the bleak, antiseptic beauty of the space ...

$13.55 David Fincher's feature debut, ALIEN 3, picks up almost directly after the events in ALIENS, finding Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) frozen in suspended animation as her ship crashes on Fiorina 161, a prison planet. When awakened by the prison's staff, she discovers that she is the sole survivor of her crew. Trapped on a barren planet with convicts and no weapons of any kind, Ripley soon realizes that an alien was also on the ship and has survived. As the savage creature begins to massacre inmates, Ripley bands together with the remaining prisoners and attempts to destroy it by wits alone.
Filmed at a time when big guns and high technology dominated the screen, ALIEN 3 deserves commendation for its unique premise--battling a ...

Aliens review
$6.29 Director Abel Ferrara (BAD LIEUTENANT) brings his usual blend of brilliance, sex, and brutality to this paranoid sci-fi tale. Gabrielle Anwar stars as Marti, a teenager who moves to a remote southern military base with her EPA inspector father (Terry Kinney), stepmom (Meg Tilly), and little brother, Andy (Reilly Murphy). To say poor Marti finds life on the base strange is a pretty drastic understatement; before she can even unpack her bags, alien pods start replacing her friends and family with dehumanized replicas. A pod even tries to get her when she's taking a bath. Through it all, Ferrara's surreal, off-kilter direction creates a creepy mood out of ordinary blank landscapes and expressions, and the film never lags, creating an ever-mounting storm of menace. The special effects feature some creepily beautiful imagery of human shapes being generated inside the pods. Forest Whitaker, R. ...

COMING OUT UNDER FIRE: Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, this documentary uses first-person accounts to chronicle the development of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy during World War II. Based on Allan Berube's book COMING OUT UNDER FIRE: THE HISTORY OF GAY MEN AND WOMEN IN WORLD WAR II.
LICENSED TO KILL: Drawing on his own experiences, filmmaker Arthur Dong recovered from his own attack at the hands of rampant homophobes by making this film about murderers whose victims were members of the gay community. Interviewing seven murderers as they serve out their prison sentences, Dong garners some fascinating responses from his subjects.
