It's the late 1970's New York with Studio 54, designer jeans, drugs, and disco. This is the outrageous breathtaking story of the first fashion super-model - her rise to the top, and her fall caught up in a whirlwind of drugs, sex, and celebrity. Gia Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Good real life movie.. I thought this movie did a pretty good job at showing the details of Gia Carangi's life. It showed the good, the bad & the ugly of her career.
I thought Angelina Jolie had an outstanding performance as the lead. Def. my favorite role from her because it was so real.
I thought everything in the movie was very realistic & sometimes chilling. I knew mid way thru the movie how it was all going to end thou. Shows how ugly drugs can make a person, but she was still beautiful & such a real person! Submitted by lw (Iowa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 3 found this helpful.
hi! This movie was good it's nice and at the same time it's sad because of everything that goes wrong. It's nice that they both found some one they loved only if Gia would have seem the real love her friend had for her. Interesting and intriguing The life and times of supermodel Gia Carangi, because of it's meandering moments and long running time, we don't have that presumed sense of intensity and rapidness of Carangi's short career,Angelina Jolie (who won a Golden Globe for her performance) shines in the title role.

| | If These Walls Could Talk 2 DVD (2000)
Gia review
$7.19 Pleased with the success of 1996's initial presentation, HBO gathered another group of successful actresses for IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK 2. Set in the same suburban house as the original--but with different inhabitants--this made-for-cable trilogy is a dramatic exploration into the lives of three separate lesbian couples in three different moments in history. The first chapter, 1961, tells the somber story of an aging woman (Vanessa Redgrave) who is left facing prejudice and intolerance after the death of her longtime companion. Unable to come to terms with her complex situation, she is forced to suffer alone, confused and distraught. The second installment, 1972, follows a young lesbian college student (Michelle Williams) who falls in love with a masculine woman (Chloe Sevigny). Unfortunately, her feminist friends refuse to accept their union, creating even more turmoil in the young woman's life. The film concludes with 2000, which tells the story of a lesbian couple (Sharon Stone and Ellen DeGeneres) who are searching for the perfect sperm donor to start a family. ...

$10.29 Late nineteenth century Cuba. Dawn. At the docks, Luis (Antonio Banderas) waits for his American mail-order bride. But, his wait seems to be in vain. Then, magically, she appears--Julia (Angelina Jolie). And, she is beautiful, unlike the woman whose picture she sent. But Luis had lied as well--he wrote that he was only a clerk in the coffee company that he actually owns. In spite of their deceptions, they marry immediately. They are blissfully happy, although Julia has her demons. She has nightmares, she ignores her sister's letters, and--mysteriously--won't open her trunk. Her sister sends an unnerving detective to check that she arrived. Still unsatisfied, her sister arrives herself. That's when Julia disappears with the money in Luis's bank accounts, instantaneously transforming Luis's dream into a nightmare.
Scriptwriter/director Michael Cristofer explores sexual obsession and deception in ORIGINAL SIN. The sumptuous thriller, based on Cornell Woolrich's classic noir novel, has elegant, lush photography by Mexican director of photography Roderigo Prieto, and a Cuban-inflected jazz score by composer Terence Blanchard. Thomas Jane is forceful as the detective. Antonio Banderas captures Luis's bliss, bewilderment, and anger perfectly. ...

Gia movie DVD
$6.99 Set in the Spring of 1968; Produced and Released in 2003/2004.
Bernardo Bertolucci's THE DREAMERS centers on three university students who adore the Cinematheque Francaise, and are fascinated by '60s culture--the music of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, the films of Jean-Luc Godard, and the writings of Susan Sontag and Chairman Mao. Their philosophical conversations about sexuality, love, politics, activism, and the Vietnam War; and their daily activities--going to the cinema, protesting in support of Henri Langlois, lounging around naked, and smoking dope--are a realistic reflection of the mood and energy of that era.
The plot involves Parisians Theo (Louis Garrel) and Isa (Eva Green), a brother-sister team with a strangely intimate connection. They befriend their American classmate Matthew (Michael Pitt), and invite him to stay at their apartment for a month while their parents are on vacation. The trio is so engrossed by their film studies that they act out scenes in an ongoing game of trivia, referencing classics like Sam Fuller's SHOCK CORRIDOR, Godard's BANDE A PART, and Frank Tashlin's THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT. They challenge each other through mind games, deeply personal discussions, and sexual dares. Outside their sheltered apartment, the streets are teaming with violence leading up ...

$7.95 With superb investigative skills heightened by uncanny natural instincts, Iliana Scott (Angelina Jolie) is not a typical FBI profiler. This beautiful, no-nonsense Special Agent is a cut above the rest, which is why her old friend Captain Le Claire (Tcheky Karyo) calls her to assist his detectives in Montreal when a brutalized body is discovered in a construction site. A murder the next night provides proof of a serial killer, but this time, there is a witness. Artist James Costa (Ethan Hawke) not only saw the murder, but also tried to save the victim, and is even able to provide a sketch of the killer. The plot only thickens as ultra-dedicated Scott, along with ornery, territorial Detective Paquette (Olivier Martinez) and good-natured Detective Duval (Jean-Hughes Anglade), continue their investigation, linking together numerous similar murders over the years and arriving at a disturbing conclusion. To complicate matters even more, Scott is drawn to their charming key witness, Costa, and finds herself in uncomfortable territory ...
