Seven-year-old Hallie and 13-year-old Ethan have one wish for Christmas: to get their divorced parents back together. They figure if they can only get them in the same place on Christmas Eve, everything will work out, mom will dump her stuffy boyfriend, and dad will reasonably explain why he left his lucrative Wall Street career to manage a diner. The children enlist the Macy's Santa and their grandmother to help the process along.

When a child wants to bring her divorced parents back together for the holidays, she asks Santa for help. Her brother and grandmother devise a plan to make her wish come true.

Color by Technicolor; shot in Panavision. Film was put into production at the behest of Brandon Tartikoff, then the newly appointed head of Paramount Pictures. When the film did poorly both critically and at the box office, Tartikoff, who had formerly worked only in TV, was lambasted for having the wrong sensibility for film. Not too long after, he left Paramount. Additional credits: Wayne Massarelli (makeup for Lauren Bacall), Jim Scribner (Santa Claus makeup for Leslie Nielson), and Elle Elliott (hair for Lauren Bacall).

4 stars A great one!
This is one of those feel good christmas movies that is so enjoyable that you hate for it to end. Thora Birch is so adorable in this movie, which is her 2nd movie she made ("Paradise" being her first) and she really does a great job here. This is a real keeper of a movie that you will enjoy over and over!

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies! I remember watching it when I was a little girl & could totally relate to Hallie, played by a young Thora Birch! A great movie for anyone who's parents aren't together and always had that moment(s) of wanting your family back. Has laughs & a great storyline!! One I can watch over & over again!

This is my favorite Christmas picture. It is such good fun. The children are delightful and the story is cute. No bad languare or inappropriate behavior. Just a great story and good family entertainment.

5 stars WOW! Hilariously funny!
This movie has to be the funniest movie i have ever seen! I first saw it when i was just 15. Now that I am 28 years old I still cannot stop laughing when I see this movie. One time I almost wizzed my pants at the "marrying the ketchup" part. This movie is an all-out classic.Anyone who hasn't seen this is definatly missing out.
