Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Sporting denim and buckskin, 1970s country-rock band Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show came to epitomize the era's laidback, feel-good style. Though their material was sung in a Dixie drawl and three members were genuine Southerners, Dr. Hook started out as a New Jersey bar band chosen to provide musical accompaniment for whimsical cartoonist/composer/poet Shel Silverstein. Led by one-eyed vocalist Ray Sawyer and main songwriter Denis Locorriere, the band went on to score further success with their own humor-laced compositions. This concert film captures Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show at their creative peak, performing live renditions of classic songs like "Sylvia's Mother," "Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball," and "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" with all their trademark bawdiness intact. | | Freddie Hart Best Of... CD (2006)
Dr. Hook And The Medicine Show - Live review
$5.15 At 10 tracks, this Freddie Hart best-of collection is a bit skimpy, but it still covers all the best-known hits by the honky tonk-flavored country-pop artist. Although Hart began recording in the 1950s, he didn't hit his commercial stride until the early '70s, when the sweet, lilting "Easy Loving" became a runaway hit. That tune is included, of course, along with tear-in-your-beer numbers like "Bless Your Heart" and emotive love songs like "Got the All Overs for You (All Over Me)." Hart isn't afraid of lush arrangements, and rarely ups the tempo past mid-level, but his expressive songs of longing are the stuff barroom ballads are built on. BEST OF offers an introductory crash course in all of these styles and more. This is an enjoyable sampler highlighting Freddie Hart's honky tonk hits from the early ...

Dr. Hook And The Medicine Show - Live movie DVD
