Inspired by Arthur Schnitzler's pla La Ronde, this ensemble drama follows the sexual dynamics of eight different characters whose lives intersect through their shared partners, revealing their fears, hopes, heartbreaks, lies, secrets, and the brutal truths behind closed doors. By constantly underlining the power of sex, the film manages to leave us with sympathy and compassion for those who simply cannot resist the force. Anne Heche, Tom Everett Scott, Elizabeth Banks, Eion Bailey, Azura Skye, Carla Gallo, Dule Hill, James LeGros, and Kerry Washington star. Ken Kwapis (THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS) based this comedy of sexual manners on Arthur Schnitzler's (EYES WIDE SHUT) play LA RONDE, which was also interpreted by the great German director Max Ophuls. The talented ensemble cast of young stars portrays the difficulties and delights of their characters' less than perfect sex lives with moving appeal and a light, humorous touch. Lorna (Azura Skye) is a young prostitute with no illusions when it comes to sex and love. Opening with one of Lorna's sexual encounters, the film follows her partner until his next rendezvous, and so on, through numerous liaisons that represent a wide range of relationships. The cast includes Ann Heche (BIRTH), Eion Bailey (ALMOST FAMOUS), Elizabeth Banks (THE BAXTER), Kevin Corrigan (WAKE UP RON BURGUNDY: THE LOST MOVIE), Dulé Hill (THE WEST WING), James LeGros (NOVEMBER, LOVELY & AMAZING), and Kerry Washington (MR. & MRS. For their second album, Sonny and Cher largely dropped both the overt Spectorisms and derivative folk-rock of their debut, 1965's LOOK AT US, instead refining the two into an utterly unique blend. There were few protest songs as dazzlingly-arranged as "Laugh At Me," originally released as a Sonny solo single. The follow-up "The Revolution Kind," included as a bonus track, shows the political leanings which would eventually get Sonny elected as a Republican congressman.
Much of the album consists of covers--"Summertime" a la the Zombies' breathy version, "Tell Him," "I'm Leaving It Up To You," etc.--all given the inimitable Sonny and Cher treatment.
