Ghetto Brawls - Queen Of The Hood film
$24.15 A movie based on a PowerPoint presentation by a former presidential candidate may not sound exciting, but once AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH hits its stride viewers may be surprised how compelling the subject matter proves to be. While many high-ranking political figures continue to argue about global warming, Al Gore has plunged headlong into a serious wake-up call for the planet with a series of lectures about the problem. It's on one of these lectures that this movie from director Davis Guggenheim is based. Guggenheim breaks up Gore's delivery by illustrating his points with film footage, much of which features the former Democratic nominee exploring the globe as he examines the ...

| | U.S. vs. John Lennon DVD (2006) Widescreen; Subtitled
Ghetto Brawls - Queen Of The Hood video
$10.09 David Leaf and John Scheinfeld struggled for over 15 years to produce this documentary, and it's emergence in the year 2006 is a testament to the film's timeliness. THE U.S. VS. JOHN LENNON focuses on a part of the music icon's life that is often overlooked: his politicization both during and after the Vietnam War. Towards the end of the Beatles' career, Lennon began taking the band in a new direction, using their popularity to circulate a message of peace in songs such as "Revolution." He became even more involved after the band broke up, and the film traces his growing awareness and dissent through both archival footage--much of which had lain forgotten in vaults for decades--and interviews with those close to him. This leads to the titular case, in which the U.S. government, which had already been monitoring his actions for some time, attempted to deport the star for fear of the threat he posed to the nation.
The film also portrays Lennon's close relationship with Yoko Ono and the ...

$19.29 Gun running is a problem that has spread throughout the world, and has lead to arms falling into some dangerous hands across the globe. THE BROOKLYN CONNECTION is a documentary that follows an immigrant named Florin Krasniqi, who came from Kosovo to reside in Brooklyn, New York. Krasniqi began exporting guns to a guerrilla army in Kosovo named the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), at the tail end of the 1990s, after his cousin was slain in the war raging in his native country. Incredibly, Krasniqi raised $30 million, which he spent on the KLA by exploiting America's lax gun laws, which allowed him ...
| | Why We Fight DVD (2006) Widescreen; Subtitled
Ghetto Brawls - Queen Of The Hood movie DVD
$9.79 Released as the American military continues to make its presence felt in Iraq and across the globe, Eugene Jarecki's (THE TRIALS OF HENRY KISSINGER) WHY WE FIGHT asks some pertinent questions about the economic necessities of war. Speaking to a number of key figures including Republican Senator John McCain and author Gore Vidal, as well as lesser-know names such as Wilton Sekzer--a Vietnam veteran and ex-New York City cop who lost his son in the World Trade Center attacks--Jarecki's film is a bipartisan treatise that was inspired by Dwight Eisenhower's 1961 farewell address to the nation. Eisenhower spoke of a burgeoning American military-industrial complex, which he believed would threaten democracy across the globe. Jarecki takes a look at whether this has occurred by questioning his subjects on the links between big business and ...
