| | Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case DVD
With tracks already featured in 5 movies, Shani is now ready to present this highly stylized DVD/CD set. Her music blurs the lines between pop, jazz, R&B, and world music and ventures into an urban hip hop flavor with help of producer/rap artist V-Style. This set creates a blend of exotic sophistication. Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case Video Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case Review

| | U2 No Line On The Horizon CD (2009)
Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case DVD
$10.49 There's no shortage of legendary producers in line to work with music world titans U2; when work with Rick Rubin broke off, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois stepped in. The resulting NO LINE ON THE HORIZON, 2009's offering from the Irish rockers, continues in the grand U2 tradition, as soaring pop anthems like opening single "Get on Your Boots" pair with experimental melanges like "Tripoli," on a striking album featuring touches of all the albums come before, yet hinting at new worlds for Bono to conquer.
After spending the 1990s experimenting with electronic music and returning to arena-ready rock during the first few years of the 21st century, U2 stakes out territory somewhere between those two points on 2009's NO LINE ON THE HORIZON. Enlisting its go-to production trio of Brian Eno, ...

Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case video
$6.09 This 1998 reissue contains 5 bonus tracks (including the previously
unreleased "White Christmas") not included on the original release.
John Denver's music always had a warm, home-spun quality to it, so it isn't surprising that his 1975 holiday effort, Rocky Mountain Christmas, is a wonderfully low-key and friendly Christmas album. Divided between classic carols and new numbers, such as the fine "Aspenglow" and "Christmas for Cowboys," ...

| | John Brannen Good Thief CD (2004)
Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case review
$10.85 On singer/songwriter John Brannen's fourth album, he combines rootsy arrangements with a handful of solid songs to create a wise record that doesn't forget to rock. His sound and approach, as some critics have noted, shows the influence of Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar Mellencamp without being derivative. Call it rock from America's heartland. "A Pair of Dice" tells the tale of a lucky gambler whose luck runs out when the devil comes to him "disguised, painted lips and pleading eyes." While this might look like another song about another woman doing a man wrong, the lyric never spells everything out and Brannen delivers the piece with gusto. "Lookin' Good" rolls along with a nice rhythmic base, guitars and bass chugging along as the protagonist pines over his good-looking Ex. Brannen's joined by a talented band including guitarist Pete Carr, pianist Clayton Ivy, bassist Willie Weeks, and drummer Owen Hale, allowing for full-bodied arrangements. There's also liberal use of background singers, as on "Lost Angels," ...
| | Magnapop Mouthfeel CD (2005)
Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case DVD
$11.79 ""We're faded" but not out of sight," Linda Hopper sings on the first track of Mouthfeel, her band Magnapop's first album in eight-and-a-half years. Actually, the reverse sums up Magnapop's situation pretty well: though all but the most devoted fans probably think that the band broke up years ago, now that Magnapop has returned, their sound hasn't faded at all. Aficionados of literate, energetic college rock from the early '90s will probably be excited enough to have the band back to forgive problems with Magnapop's new material, but fortunately, that's not necessary. Mouthfeel is not only one of the band's strongest collections of songs, it's also their most effortless and relaxed-sounding work since their 1992 self-titled mini-album. Instead of putting a glossy, modern-rock spin on their sound -- which undermined their previous album, Rubbing Doesn't Help -- on Mouthfeel ...

Shani - At The Casbah: Jewel Case video
$14.09 As the story goes, Dick Dale helped invent surf music by borrowing from traditional Middle Eastern melodies thanks to his Lebanese dad. Boom Pam, located down the coast in Tel Aviv, help bring it all back around, showing themselves to be one of those spirited "try anything once" groups in the vein of such legends as Mano Negra and Babasónicos. But groups like Croatia's Bambi Molesters would be a closer comparison, combining their love of surf with Eastern European as well as Mediterranean styles and creating a unique new stew. The killer ace in ...
