Devendra Banhart music CDs Singer/songwriter Artist led the charge of the psych-folk revival that started in the early 2000s. With his freewheeling style, fanciful songwriting, and wispy, childlike vocals, Banhart evoked the countercultural folk-rock sound of late-'60s/early-'70s artists like the Incredible String Band and Pearls Before Swine. In the process, he paved the way for scores of similarly minded new performers, bringing about a full-scale revival of the esoteric genre.
