| Carry On Breathing CD (2008)
Cassetteboy albums. 2008 concept album from the infamous cut-up sound terrorists. Covering all the big themes: money, love, death and, er, Croydon Council, Carry On Breathing tells the story of life itself, from birth to death, through the medium of bits of Eastenders, nicked Northern Soul loops and knob gags. Cassetteboy are childhood friends Michael Bollen and Steve Warlin. Barry's Bootlegs. |

| Mick's Tape CD (2005)
| | | | |
Cassetteboy music CDs. Cassetteboy's Mick's Tape is an album created by cutting up audio clips with the rigorously bootlegged edit program Sound Forge. The clips sound like they've been pulled from thrift store records and BBC documentaries. The humor stays nicely juvenile and is consistent with the weeded hip-hop tracks that break up the comedy. Mick's Tape is constructed in the same way as the Phat Stack tapes that have floated around on the West Coast of the U.S. Cassetteboy is less sinister and on the whole less adventurous. On the first Phat Stack tape, Dirty Beats and Funky Sex, he let the comedy, cut-ups, and insanity flow right through the more music-oriented tracks. Mick's Tape isn't as much of a collage but is equal in its devotion to weird audio clips. The best come from a social anxiety self-help tape, a golf lesson, and a discussion about the London Underground. Mick's Tape is a great example of cut-ups and the power that Sound Forge puts in the hands of the average person. No record, radio clip, advertisement, or conversation is safe from a cut-up treatment. Cassetteboy has taken this kind of mixing out of the car stereo cassette deck and passed it on to a larger audience. ~ Matt Whalley
One of the defining artists in the “bootleg scene”, Cassetteboy are actually “Mike” and “Simon”, two lads from Brighton with a sick obsession for cutting up pieces of popular culture and re-assembling them in as subversive a manner as possible. In their own words: ”Basically we record famous people and make it sound like they’re talking about sex or drugs. It’s a winning formula.” Embraced by Sleaze Nation magazine, XFM’s James Hyman and the trendy “Hoxton” crowd, their underground mix CDs (“The Parker Tapes” and “Inside a Whale’s Cock”) and seven ... |

| Dead Horse CDs (2005)
Cassetteboy discography. Collage and cut-and-paste combine on this English duo's second album as they re-edit audio clips with a socio-political satirical bent.
The title Dead Horse archly pre-empts the criticism that Cassetteboy is flogging a dead horse by offering yet another full-length collection ... |
