Among them, there is "Delilah" a song about the Biblical seductress who betrayed Samson. This 2001 theme album by Dagda is made up of eleven compositions about love. The titles of these songs best illustrate the concept of this album. Meanwhile, "Sailing By" and "Spirits Fly" are two songs about loneliness and lingering memories of faded love.
Overall, each piece on SLEEPING WITH THE GODS OF LOVE revolves around a passionate tale of love gained or lost, and each lyric suggests godly intervention or heavenly fate. Other selections are sultrier, such as "Hold Me Now" and "Gods of Love Live Here," which center around the pleasures of human touch. Track ten features the talents of piper Martin Nolan but, in general, this album is vocally driven. The music itself combines traditional Irish instruments, such as tin whistles and uilleann pipes, with keyboard washes, and computer-generated drum loops.

(The liner notes relate some of the myths in great detail.) The music is wonderful. That is the success of this disc -- it is true fusion. Neither style dominates. This trio -- presumably, Reg Keating, John Connoly, and Philip O'Reilly -- designed this well. Traditional Celtic lends itself well to rhythmic ambience. This ensemble combines Celtic textures and new ambient rhythms and atmospheres in this nod to the home of "Celtic gods, poets, sages and druids." It is a veritable hotbed of Celtic legend and mythology. Underworld is a fusion CD from Dagda. It will appeal to fans of Bill Whelan and Danna & Clement.
