This 2001 theme album by Dagda is made up of eleven compositions about love. The titles of these songs best illustrate the concept of this album. Among them, there is "Delilah" a song about the Biblical seductress who betrayed Samson. Meanwhile, "Sailing By" and "Spirits Fly" are two songs about loneliness and lingering memories of faded love.
Overall, each piece on SLEEPING WITH THE GODS OF LOVE revolves around a passionate tale of love gained or lost, and each lyric suggests godly intervention or heavenly fate. Track ten features the talents of piper Martin Nolan but, in general, this album is vocally driven. The music itself combines traditional Irish instruments, such as tin whistles and uilleann pipes, with keyboard washes, and computer-generated drum loops.

The title promises a Celtic-themed journey and there are definitely elements here that will appeal to fans of the genre -- native language performances by the Enya-like ethereal voices of Sharon Murphy and Karen Tracey, a festive jig-type flavor on "Winds of Change," and a whimsical flute and haunting tribal voices winding through the ambient contours of "Tuath de Danaan."
