On its 2006 debut for the Red Scare label, the Ontario-based punk band the Riptides offer up a set of fast-paced, no-frills anthems. Clearly drawing from the Clash/Rancid lineage (see the surging "Detention"), the group, led by vocalist Andy Vandal, also dabbles in even grittier hardcore material on the fierce "I Wanna Riot," making this an album for the raised-fist faithful.
