And with his artfully artless hair and smoldering looks, DeMarinis definitely plays the part of the pop idol. However, he has some talent to back it all up, both as a singer and as a writer -- he co-wrote all 11 songs here. There's nothing startling on the record, just some moderately catchy pop, well sung, but somewhat dated by American standards. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing, because it keeps DeMarinis out of the trap of sounding too hip -- a sound that will be out of fashion in a few months anyway.
