A cause for celebration among black metal historians, the release of Hellhammer's epochal collection, DEMON ENTRAILS, marks the first time this music has been available on anything but substandard bootlegs. Essentially Celtic Frost in embryonic form, Hellhammer featured that band's Tom G. Warrior and Martin Eric Ain and sports a more primitive cut of Celtic Frost's potent, symphonic black metal. The demos that make up the collection--DEATH FIEND, TRIUMPH OF DEATH, and SATANIC RITES--show hints of the atrocities to come but stick mostly to rugged, mid-tempo chainsaw grooves. The style, tone, and fascinations of black metal, however, started right here.
Hellhammer: Thomas Gabriel Warrior (vocals, guitar); Steve "Savage Damage" Warrio (vocals, bass guitar); Bruce Day (drums).

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas CD (1994)

Reflections of the I CD (2002)
Winds' first full-length, Reflections of the I, is a high-minded collection of ornate yet mellow and tastefully executed classical/progressive metal songs. The songs are bound together by soul-searching existential lyrics, which give the album a conceptual feel. In addition, the ... |
