Georgia singer/songwriter Artist was a member of the legendary "Class of '89", which also included Garth Brooks, Clint Black, and Travis Tritt. Among his peers Jackson stands apart because of his songwriting talent (Randy Travis and Faith Hill have had hits with his songs), and because he plays a more traditional brand of country, with a style strongly influenced by George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams.
