| Ultimate Collection, The CD (2001)

Lafayette Afro-Rock Band CD discography. A perfect, economical place to familiarize yourself with the seldom-heard yet universally celebrated brilliance of the Lafayett Afro Rock Band. Since these guys weren't as ubiquitous in the States during their mid-'70s reign, they never got the attention or acclaim that other bands like Funkadelic received. The truth, though, is that they could set the house on fire with their funk and could rival nearly any band out there at the time in terms of straight-up jamming. The fact that it shares almost the identical track listing as the previously released Darkest Light best-of makes choosing between the two rather trivial, so don't sweat about that -- you can't go wrong with either. ~ Jason Birchmeier |
