Terry Oldfield Biography
A prolific and self-taught flautist, percussionist, and composer, Artist looms as large in the world of New Age music as his younger brother Mike looms in prog-rock. Formerly a sideman for his brother, the elder Oldfield stepped into his own spotlight in 1986 with the release of CASCADE, followed in the same year by the critically acclaimed REVERENCE. The British-born Oldfield went on to release album after album of meditative music, the most popular of which proved to be his musical travelogues, which feature traditional sounds infused with Oldfield's own sense of melodic intrigue. He has also scored films for theatrical release and television and collaborated with his sister, vocalist Sally Oldfield.
