Opera Ix music CDs. Digitally remastered reissue of this 2000 album from the Italian Symphonic Black Metal band. Opera IX were formed in Italy in 1988 by guitarist Ossian. The band was always more than a straight-forward Black Metal band, mixing elements of Thrash and Death Metal with Symphonic and Folk influences. Released in 2000, this album attracted praise due to the characteristic, varied and uncommon (especially at the time) Black Metal vocals of front-woman Cadaveria, mixed with other cleaner vocal styles to compliment the music. A conceptual, very dark and occult melodic metal album, The Black Opera closes with a rendition of Bauhaus' 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'. Peaceville Records. 2009.
