While the band never reaches the furious, sublime heights of Nirvana, there's considerably more to this album than simply Hollywood angst bashed out on guitar. Sounding not unlike IN UTERO-era Nirvana, Pagoda is marked by Pitt's dark, twisted guitar hooks and pained vocals. The band's debut self-titled album was released on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label in 2007. Actor Michael Pitt (LAST DAYS, BULLY, DAWSON'S CREEK) is the driving creative force behind the Brooklyn-based Pagoda. The cello is a nice musical touch, too
