When Castor is killed while defending his beloved Tlare from an attempted abduction, Pollux resolves to give up this immortality and take Castor's place in the Underworld. Castor et Pollux is arguably Rameau's finest creation in the tragdie lyrique style. Les Borades is an opera in 5 acts by Rameau. It was the last of Rameau's five tragdies en musique. Combining an intriguing cast, which includes modern dance artists La La La Human Steps, as well as traditional performers such as Paul Agnew and Barbara Bonney, this is a fascinating interpretation of Rameau's opera. Directed by Robert Carsen, the 140-strong cast performs wonderfully as they take to a stage which has been decorated with an amazing attention to detail.
