However those who delight in punk energy married to pop hooks and earnest emotion will delight in Rufio's explosion into the mainstream after a couple of albums. 1985 (inconveniently expressed on the album cover in Roman numerals) presents a band that's tighter than the proverbial drum and full of vitality and passion. On such tracks as the propulsive, intricately riff-laden "Science Fiction" and the frenzied, full-on "Why Wait?" the proud men of Rufio broadcast their mix of punk and pop with the kind of emotional commitment that quickly makes hardcore fans out of innocent bystanders.
