 Slaughter Biography
Formed in 1988 at the height of the hair metal explosion, Artist was led by singer Mark Artist (formerly of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion). The group's brand of melodic, pop-oriented metal caught on with fans of acts like Cinderella and White Lion. Their 1990 debut album, STICK IT TO YA, went double platinum on the strength of several singles, including the power ballad "Fly to the Angels." Although the band's style of music had fallen from public favor by the time their released their second album, THE WILD LIFE.in 1992, the band continued to tour and record throughout the `90s. The death of guitarist Tim Kelly was a blow, but a new guitarist was recruited. Artist remained working unit in the 2000s, appearing regularly on hair metal revival tours.
