Steven Wright music CDs. While Steven Wright became an icon of 1980s comedy for his ultra-dryly-delivered, absurd one-liners, for almost three decades of standup, 1985's I HAVE A PONY was the only full-length recording of his unique comic stylings. However, I HAVE A PONY is a jam-packed sample of one of irony's greatest advocates since Steve Martin's heyday. From wry observations like "I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of widths" to bizarre linguistical twists like "do you live around here often," Wright's routines rarely build past one layer, but the scattershot effect he unleashes is like few others in the comedy game.

Steven Wright songs. More than two decades after his lauded first album, I HAVE A PONY, comedian Steven Wright finally followed it up with this fittingly titled and Grammy-nominated live performance. With his perpetually half-asleep demeanor and deep-voiced delivery, Wright relates strange tales of everyday life, punctuating his stories with disarming one-liners ("In her spare time, she liked to waste time" from "I Met This Woman"). Fans of the oddly mesmerizing funnyman will not be disappointed. Recording information: The Historic Elgin, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (05/2006); Winter Garden Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (05/2006). Photographer: Jack Louth.

Reservoir Dogs Reservoir Dogs CD (1992) 4.3 stars
CDBuy It Original Soundtrack
Steven Wright CD discography. Dialogue spoken by Steven Wright, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, Lawrence Tierney and Eddie Bunker. All dialogue written by Quentin Tarantino. Director Quentin Tarantino has a knack for picking superb backing tracks for his films, and the soundtrack to his bold debut, RESERVOIR DOGS, is no exception. Nestled between Steven Wright's sad-sack song announcements is the disc's opening tune, the George Baker Selection's "Little Green Bag," a shuffling groove with a faux-tropical melody line that's hard to shake, followed by Blue Swede's candy-coated pop gem "Hooked on a Feeling," with its unmistakable "hooga-chakka" intro. Joe Tex's eminently funky "I Gotcha" and the too-cool-for-school "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel are killers, while Sandy Rogers's "Fool for Love" and Harry Nilsson's charming "Coconut" round out the soundtrack's essentials. The rest of the disc is filled in with the band Bedlam's covers of "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Harvest Moon" and separately tracked selections of dialogue from the amazingly influential film. Also available with PULP FICTION as a 2-CD set. Producers include: George Baker, Bengt Palmers, Buddy Killen, Jay Joyce, Giles Reaves. Personnel: Harry Nilsson (vocals).
