Tortoise Biography
During the early 1990s, Artist helped to lay the foundation for what's come to be known as "post rock." Part of an incestuous Chicago scene bent on using rock instruments and formats without adhering to traditional song structure, Artist incorporates dub, electronica, moody atmospherics, and prog-rock leanings in the service of their forward-looking style.
