On SEAWORTHY, the trio's 4th and most ambitious album to date, True Margrit navigates the waters of interpersonal politics, vanity, history, time-travel, and mortality, and arrives wth a group of songs that is both emotionally raw and musically evolved.
True Margrit's sound is fueled by singer/ songwriter/piano-player Margrit Eichler's husky-sweet alto, her adventuresome piano, and a secret weapon: the muscular, dynamic, turn-on-a-dime rhythm-section of Gary Hobish on bass and Andrew Bacon on drums.
SEAWORTHY is fleshed out with touches of guitar, cello, oboe, bassoon, sax, and flute by an array of Bay Area guest stars including Pam Delgado and Jeri Jones (of Blame Sally), Amy Meyers, Kat Downs, Carrie Adler, Ned Howey, and Symon Michael.
Although reminiscent of Ben Folds, Fiona Apple, Elvis Costello, and Aimee Mann, True Margrit's sound is all their own--a lyrical admixture of science, history, and personal narrative that explores the tension between what is catchy and what is complex.
