Hailing from an esteemed, if dysfunctional, musical family that includes Loudon Wainwright III (father), Kate McGarrigle (mother), Anna McGarrigle (aunt), and Rufus Wainwright (brother), Artist began following her own path in earnest with her 2005 self-titled debut. An assured and lauded folk-pop album, Artist showcases the New York City-based singer-songwriter's expressive voice and unapologetically blunt lyrics, particularly on the scathing "Bloody Mother F***ing A**hole," easily placing the performer in the same revered territory as her accomplished older sibling.
