Janet Waldo songs. The second and final volume in Mr. Music's series on one of the best vocal groups of the '40s, Live With the Mel-Tones, Vol. 2 unfortunately includes only six performances by the group, but they are fine. "What Is This ... |

Janet Waldo music CDs. Recorded live between July and October 1948. Includes liner notes by Mel Torme and Wayne Knight.

| Foggy Day CD (2006)
Janet Waldo albums. This digitally remastered CD, "A Foggy Day", features 14 Jazz tracks from Mel Torme. In 1943, Tormé began fronting an L.A. vocal group that was soon redubbed the Mel-Tones; he served as their arranger too. You can hear the Mel-Tones on several tracks here, backing up Bing Crosby on 1946's "Day by Day" and stepping to the fore for "I Got the Sun in the Morning" (from July of the same year, accompanied by Artie Shaw's band). ... |

| Round Midnight CD (1993)
| | | | |
Janet Waldo CD discography. The third reissue of classic Mel Tormé selections from the 1940s and '50s includes superb renditions of "When It's Sleepy Time Down South" (complete with original lyrics) and "The Blues," plus more jazzy tunes like "Baby, Don't You Go 'Way Mad," with Jimmy Mundy's arrangement, and "A Fine Romance," pairing Tormé with Janet Waldo and backed by The Dean Elliott orchestra. "The Money Song" includes The Mel-Tones and Elliott orchestra. Tormé is otherwise backed by the Harry Sosnik, Dean Trenier, Bizz Adiam or Marty Paich orchestras and the Dave Barbour Four or Page Cavanaugh Trio. These Laserlight reissues are woefully short on the information side, which hurts them when comparing their titles to the authoritative research routinely available on Musicraft, Majestic and Discovery Tormé reissues. ~ Ron Wynn
