Booniay! A Compilation Of West African Funk Vinyl LP (2002)
Tornado CDs This is a companion piece to Afrodisiac's The Danque and is another solid collection of '70s West African funk tracks. There is a bit more of an overt African flavor to these tracks, like the South African-flavored horns of "Good Samaritan," and, of course, the handful of African vocals. But these really are more funk than Afro-beat, and there are some killer sounds contained here. As with The Danque, crate-diggers and DJs could add some real spice to the dancefloor with this one. ~ Sean Westergaard
